National Academy of Arts Marks 50th
Anniversary of Product Design
Education


Sofia, December 1 (BTA) - The National Academy of Arts marks the
50th anniversary of the start of product design education with
a series of events in December 1 through to December 13, sources
from the Academy said.

The first event is a retrospective exhibition of the Industrial
Design Department opening on December 1 in the Academy's
gallery. On display are educational projects, thesis works and
photos signposting the important developments in the Department
which was set up in 1964.

The anniversary will also be marked with a conference on
"Problems and Prospects of Academic Education in Product Design"
on December 12 and 13.

After its establishment 50 years ago, the Product Design
specialty created a professional boom in the 1970s and 1980s,
brought the Bulgarian industry on line with the current European
and world achievements and improved the culture of consumption
and Bulgaria's self-awareness as an industrially developed
