January 1-23 Electricity Production Up 24.45% Y/Y
 
	    
	January 25 (BTA) - Electricity production increased by 
24.45 per cent in the first 23 days of January 2022 compared to 
January 1-23, 2021, according to the latest data on Bulgaria's 
energy balance posted on the website of the Electricity System 
Operator (ESO) on Tuesday. Electricity production between 
January 1 and 23, 2022 was reported at 3,789,691 MWh, up from 
3,045,267 MWh a year earlier. 
There was also a 349.62 per cent increase in the balance 
(export-import)  compared to a year earlier.
The share of baseload plants in production increased by 31.57 
per cent year on year, said ESO. They generated 3,223,941 MWh of
 electricity in January 1-23, 2022, compared to 2,450,363 MWh a 
year earlier.
ESO reported an increase in the share of RES in the transmission
 network by 38.46 per cent and in the distribution network by 
37.22 per cent.
There was a decrease in the share of electricity from hydropower
 plants by 22.62 per cent in the first 23 days of January 2022 
compared to a year earlier, ESO said. RY/DD
