CEMIS Waste Management Information Platform
to Cover
Whole Region Soon

Sofia, January 12 (BTA) - The Circular Economy Management Information System (CEMIS) already operates in several municipalities in Bulgaria, but their number is yet to increase, project manager Tsvetomir Kalchev told BTA following a final press conference at the BTA national press club here on Wednesday.

The project is titled Pilot Demonstration Model for Circular Economy and is financed under Operational Programme Environment 2014-2020 and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.

Kalchev expects that more municipalities will join the information platform, working towards prevention, recycling, transfer and recovery of household waste materials. Initially, CEMIS was envisaged to operate in Sofia Municipality only but it is possible to cover a whole region soon.

CEMIS is an open platform which provides informed choice about the possibilities for prevention and reduction of the generated household waste and preparation for reuse and recycling of household waste materials.

Officially launched on September 30, 2021, CEMIS is publicly accessible to all interested in circular economy. VE/KK
