Fifth Anniversary of
Ambassador for a Day Initiative


Sofia, March 21 (BTA) The fifth anniversary of the Ambassador
for a Day initiative was marked with an official event
organized by the British Embassy in Sofia, the organizers said.

The event was attended by high-ranking guests, including
Vice President Iliana Iotova, who is the patron of the
initiative, ambassadors supporting the cause, officials and
members of civil society.

They discussed what the Ambassador for a Day has achieved over the past five years, as well as what is needed to ensure gender equality.
During the event, the British Embassy screened a short
documentary to celebrate the anniversary, which shared some of
the inspiring stories of the winners of the competition.

The Ambassador for a Day campaign is a flagship initiative of
the British Embassy in Sofia, launched in 2018, to encourage
young girls to dream, develop their potential and share their
views on current issues. Ambassador for a Day is a national
essay competition for girls between the ages of 14 and 18. The
participants in the competition come from all over Bulgaria and
have the opportunity to spend a day with leaders from around the
world who represent their countries at the highest level.
