Governance
Programme

Sofia, January 21 (BTA) - At its regular weekly meeting on
Wednesday, the Council of Ministers approved a governance
programme for stable development of the Republic of Bulgaria,
2014-2018. The document has been drawn up under the coalition
agreement between the incumbents on the formation of a
pro-European reformist government for sustainable development of
Bulgaria, the government's information service said.

The programme envisions Bulgaria as a European country, with
supremacy of the law and institutions working in the interest of
people, ensuring effectiveness and transparency, and creating
conditions for a dignified life and personal development.

The governance programme takes into account the difficult
economic and social situation at the moment, the state of the
public finances, of the banking and energy sectors, stressing
the need for decisive and urgent reforms. The programme covers
21 areas for whose development the government has set out 423
concrete goals and 1,155 measures.

By endorsing the programme, the cabinet fulfils its commitments
for promoting transparency, fighting conventional crime and
corruption, and using the new technologies to strengthen
governance.

The programme is to be presented in the National Assembly.
