Prosecutors' College with Supreme Judicial Council Suspends Procedure for Selection of European Delegated Prosecutors

January 26 (BTA) - The Prosecutors' College with the
Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) has suspended the procedure for
selection of European Delegated Prosecutors from Bulgaria, the
SJC said on Wednesday.

The decision was taken in connection with a letter from European
Chief Prosecutor Laura Kovesi, addressed to Deputy Justice
Minister Maria Pavlova, requesting a new nomination for
delegated prosecutor after Anita Dzhamalova's nomination was
rejected. The letter also notified that Ivaylo Iliev had been
appointed as European Delegated Prosecutor from Bulgaria.

After considering the letter, the College members decided to
suspend the selection procedure because the remaining candidates
for European delegated prosecutors did not receive the
necessary support from the members of the Prosecutors College,
who were present at the vote on September 10 2021. RY/PP
