COVID-19 Update: 6,630 New Cases, Test Positivity Rate at 25%

Sofia, January 23 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 877,381, after 26,541 tests identified 6,630 new infections on Saturday, 77.5 per cent of which were of unvaccinated persons, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now approaches 25 per cent.

Sofia tops the list of new cases with 2,039 positive tests, followed by Burgas with 686 cases and Plovdiv with 584.

The active cases are 200,978. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 5,216, including 547 in intensive care. Of the 258 hospital admissions, 82 per cent were not vaccinated.

The infected medical staff have reached 19,503.

Another 1,249 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 643,767.

Thirty-two fatalities were reported (81 per cent unvaccinated), and the death toll now adds up to 32,636.

With 3,737 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 4,095,421 vaccine doses have been administered so far, 1,975,836 people are fully vaccinated, and 567,878 have received a booster jab.
