President Rumen Radev Pledges to Uphold Sovereignty, Rule of Law, Security, Justice

January 22 (BTA) - In the coming years, I will make sure
this country does not stray from its path, and I will uphold
sovereignty, the rule of law, security, and justice, because
this is our long-term, irrevocable mission, said President Rumen
Radev at his and Vice President Iliana Iotova's inauguration
for a second term in Sofia's St. Alexander Nevsky Square on
Saturday.

Political change is only the first step, there are still many
trials ahead of us, and I hope the whole political generation
realizes that, he said.   We have dedicated five years to the
battle for law and democracy. I promoted and worked for unity,
the President said. He pointed out that he had been reproached
for dividing the nation, but the votes of the citizens
unequivocally showed that Bulgarian society has chosen to part
with some of the inherited past.

Our victory was a joint effort, we brought society out of
apathy, we restored fair elections for the people, and for the
parliament - the opportunity to reform the rejected model of
governance, to strengthen the State, to fight corruption, to
revive democratic institutions, Radev said. The people have
spoken, and today we know which principles unite us - those of
lawfulness, justice and enlightenment, and the true European
development of Bulgaria, he concluded.
