Personal Password for Access to e-Medical Record Improves Control on Spending Public Resources

Sofia, August 28 (BTA) - As of August 28 every Bulgarian can claim a personal password for access to his or her medical record, the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) said Monday. This launches a campaign to increase public control on the spending of public resources with which NHIF buys medical services for patients.
The personal password will allow every patient to check whether his medical record reflects precisely medical services that he or she have used. If he finds the record to include a service he has not used, he can alert the NHIF or its local office. The NHIF control bodies will investigate the case and inform the patient about the results.
NHIF calls on Bulgarian people to exercise active control on how public resources are spent for health care.
