Police Detain Sofia Airport Bomb Hoax Caller

Sofia, June 25 (BTA) - Sofia police officers have detained a 42 year-old male, who made called a call to the 112 emergency phone number Friday evening to make a false report of a bomb at Sofia Airport, which led to its evacuation, the Interior Ministry reported Saturday.

The man has a criminal history is remanded in custody for 24 hours.

A report about an explosive device planted at Sofia Airport was received at 10:40 p.m. local time on Friday, the airport management said.

The buildings of the airport terminals were immediately evacuated.

Special Interior Ministry units conducted a check and found no bomb.

Terminal 2 returned to its normal routine at 11:58 p.m. on Friday, and Terminal 1 did so 23 minutes after midnight.
