Volya Is Against Concession for Sofia Airport

Sofia, May 19 (BTA) - The Volya party is opposing the concession award for Sofia Airport, Volya leader Vesselin Mareshki told a news briefing in Parliament on Friday. He said that the deal will be detrimental to the state.

"We are firmly against the privatization through a concession award of the one of the key Bulgarian business companies, a key element in Bulgaria security, one of the few that is operating efficiently and bringing in steady revenues for the country," said Mareshki.

"Giving away a working enterprise won't revive a drowning company that was run into the ground through incompetent management," said Mareshki.

Mareshki said that the state will be a better manager for the airport than a private owner. "Companies that are working well there is not need to be nationalized. Those that are not part of the national security system they should be nationalized," he said.
