Urgent Checks Start of Vehicle Exhaust Emissions in Sofia

Sofia, February 8 (BTA) - Officers of the Road Administration Executive Agency, the Traffic Police and the Sofia Inspectorate start urgent checks and measurements of vehicle exhaust emissions in Sofia, the Interior Ministry said on Wednesday.

The checks are in response to excessive fine particulate matter concentrations in the ambient air in Sofia during the past month.

Vehicle exhaust emissions as well as heating with coal and firewood are two of the main sources of fine particulate matter air pollution in Sofia.
