Bulgaria Signs Deal for Supply of 10 MiG-29 Engines
Sofia, November 10 (BTA) - The Defence Ministry said that a contract was signed on Wednesday for the supply of 10 engines for the country's MiG-29 fighter jet fleet.
The signed agreement - which covers four new and six repaired engines - would make it possible to restore the air-worthiness of another five MiG-29s next year.
The contractor will deliver the first pair of overhauled engines by April 30, 2017, with the rest of the engines due for delivery one pair at a time every month.
The Ministry said that the procedure for the purchase of a new type of fighter jet will continue despite the ongoing propaganda claiming that the Bulgarian Air Force will be grounded. That has been prevented from happening by the Ministry. The proof in this respect is the successful overhaul of the engines this year in Poland. The contract, with favorable business terms, was carried out to the letter and on time by the Polish partners, allowing the Air Force to routinely maintain the necessary level of combat-readiness.
