Reformist Bloc Calls for Parliamentary Hearing of Interior Minister

Sofia, August 16 (BTA) - In a statement on Tuesday, the Reformist Bloc urged that Interior Minister Roumyana Buchvarova be given a hearing by Parliament over the expulsion of Turkish citizen Abdullah Buyuk last week and the risk of a migrant wave.

The Bloc condemned the violation of founding principles for the government coalition such as the rule of law and Bulgaria's Euro-Atlatnic orientation. "The handover of a Turkish national to the Turkish authorities last week is a sign that these principles have been trampled on although they are laid out in the government's programme for the country's stable development.

The risk of a migrant crisis could not be subject of a deal between Bulgaria and Turkey, said the Reformist Bloc. In view of the changing political situation and increased migratory pressure at the Bulgarian border a pan-European position on the refugee crisis is needed which will defend the interests of frontline countries such as Bulgaria and Greece.
