Conclusions of Ongoing EC Review of Bulgarian Prosecution Service to Be Made Public

Brussels, June 30 (BTA) - The conclusions and recommendations in the analysis which an ongoing European expert mission is to prepare about the structural and functional model of the prosecution service in Bulgaria, will be made public in a view of the huge public interest, the Bulgarian Justice Ministry said. This was agreed in Brussels Thursday during a meeting between the visiting Bulgarian Justice Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva and European Commission (EC) Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis.

The initial arrangements were for the conclusions in the analysis to be confidential.

Dombrovskis supervises the operation of the Structural Reform Support Service, which arranged the technical assistance for preparing the independent analysis of the Bulgarian prosecution service.

This service has organized the mission of five European prosecutors and two Commission experts which is reviewing the structure and performance of the Bulgarian prosecution magistracy.

Domrovskis stressed that the mission has a purely expert and technical character and aims to make an objective and honest analysis of the Bulgarian prosecution service.

Zaharieva and Dombrovskis gave a high mark to the Structural Reform Support Service and discussed possible future missions for technical assistance, including in the process of implementing Brussels' recommendations for a thorough reform of the insolvency procedure framework.

The Bulgarian Justice Minister also discussed the course of the judicial reform with European Commission Vice President Kristalina Georgieva.
