EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini Confers with PM

Sofia, July 23 (BTA) - EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini opened a visit to Bulgaria on Thursday.

The migration pressure and the situation in Greece featured on the agenda of her talks with Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, the Government's press service said on Thursday.

"Bulgaria is among the worst affected countries by the migration pressure and, in the conditions of an increasing migration flow, we prove that we successfully guard the external border of the EU," Borissov said at his meeting with Mogherini. The Prime Minister noted that the accession of Bulgaria and Romania to the Schengen Area will be a clear signal about the EU in the fight against terrorism and illegal migration. "We should not allow a crack in security at any border or on the territory of any of the EU member states, he added. Borissov noted the importance of having a uniform EU foreign and security policy.

The Prime Minister noted that maintaining financial stability and reasonable budget policy are the right choice and this has been confirmed by the situation in Greece.

He familiarized the guest with the additional revenues to the budget as a result of the actions undertaken to curtail corruption and smuggling.
