Parliament Chair Tsacheva: Carrying out  Judicial Reform Is Urgent

Sofia, July 18 (BTA) - Carrying out the judicial reform is urgent, said Parliament's Chair Tsetska Tsacheva Saturday during the opening of a GERB youth forum in the southern city of Plovdiv about the upcoming local elections, quoted by her party's press centre.

According to her, GERB's voters are disappointed in the judicial system and the lack of justice, which is something that must change. In order for Bulgaria to attract investments, it must have a working judicial system, Tsacheva noted. "When I am presenting our country during meetings with foreign groups, they interrupt me to say that in order for them to invest in Bulgaria, it must have a working judicial system," she explained.

GERB Floor Leader and Deputy Chair Tsvetan Tsvetanov said that the constitutional amendments will be put to the vote in Parliament next week. He was speaking to journalists at the Rozhen 2015 Folk Art and Stockbreeding Fair. What is more important is that the Reformist Bloc, too, has come to realize the importance of talking to the opposition, he commented the recent talks between the parliamentary represented political formations about the judicial reform and the constitutional amendments.

When political consensus is sought, a mutual compromise is made, which will be in the interest of the State and of achieving these constitutional reforms, Tsvetanov said. According to him, this can be achieved when everyone softens their position.

"We are asking ourselves the question why were we so tough in the beginning, when it was clear to everyone that voting the constitutional amendments would be unthinkable until this wide political consensus is reached," Tsvetanov said, adding that there is nothing better than political consensus when reforms and laws will be adopted, which will have to be enforced in the next 10 to 30 years.
