Bulgaria Ranks 65th in World Ranking of Exports after a Decline

Sofia, July 7 (BTA) - Bulgaria marked albeit a negligible
decline in exports, which brought this country again back to the
65th place in the world's exports ranking for 2014, two places
below the position it held in 2013. Bulgarian exports stood at
29.314 million US dollars, according to a study of the Bulgarian
Industrial Association, based on data of the World Trade
Organization (preliminary for 2014).

The drop of exports was partly due to the strengthening of the
US dollars, the Association commented. Also, the fluctuation of
prices exerted a significant impact on
the export of oil products and fuels causing its drop. In the
third place, although Bulgaria exported a larger amount of
copper, there was a drop of the price of this metal on the world
market due to a decrease of demand in China, which is the main
consumer.

There was a more serious drop of Bulgarian exports to China,
Russia, Spain and Serbia, while the country strengthened its
market positions in Belgium and Singapore.

The Bulgarian companies reported an average annual growth of
exports of eight per cent in the 2010-2014 period. There has
been a growth of the export of goods with higher added value:
medicines, machines, electric and electronic works as well as
pharmaceutical products.
