Interior Minister Buchvarova Confers with Serbian Counterpart Stefanovic
Sofia, June 24 (BTA) - The common security challenges for
Bulgaria and Serbia call for joint actions, said Deputy Prime
Minster and Minister of Interior Roumyana Buchvarova here during
a meeting with her Serbian counterpart Nebojsa Stefanovic, the
Interior Ministry said on Wednesday.
The two ministers have concluded that the established so far
good practice and the existing stable contractual and legal
basis are starting points for continuing the development of
cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
Buchvarova has confirmed Bulgaria's support for Serbia's
European integration and welcomed the progress it has made,
voicing readiness for Bulgaria to share its experience.
She has outlined the main tasks on which her Ministry is
working, with one of the most important ones being countering
the increased migration pressure. Buchvarova stressed the need
to enhance cooperation in protecting the Bulgarian-Serbian
border and countering illegal migration.
Buchvarova and Stefanovic voiced their joint position and
readiness expand and deepen cooperation and establish direct
contacts between the two ministries' structures, responsible for
fighting organized crime. The two have outlined specific areas
for working interaction - countering drug trafficking and
distribution, human trafficking, countering cybercrime and
cultural heritage trafficking, counterterrorism, investigating
money laundering, countering customs crimes, as well as crimes
against the monetary, tax and social security systems.
