Albena Seaside Resort to Invest over Lv 130 Mln in Renovations in Next Five Years

Albena seaside resort (BTA) - Albena AD will invest over
130,000,000 leva to renovate the eponymous seaside resort in the
next five years, Albena CEO Krassimir Stanev told journalists
here on Saturday.

According to him, projects have already been prepared for the
construction of an open olympic-size swimming pool, a tennis
centre as well as renovating the promenade, hotels, the cultural
information centre, the marketplace, the bowling alley, among
other sites.

Stanev voiced hope that the Albena resort will have a new look
for the start of the 50th anniversary of its opening.

The CEO noted that there is a growing interest by West European
tour operators in Albena and the drop in Russian tourists is
expected to be fully compensated by the rise of holidaymakers
from other countries in the next couple of years. Stanev added
that this season is starting with more German and Polish
tourists, while the number of Bulgarians and Romanians remains
the same as last year. Stanev expects the season to end with a
15-20 per cent drop in the total number of tourists due to the
decreasing number of Russian holidaymakers.
