Popular Singer Godjounov Dies

Sofia, June 14 (BTA) - Popular singer Boris Godjounov, 74, died
on Sunday, BTA learned from pop singer Yordanka Hristova. He
died in hospital in Sofia.

Godjounov was born on May 22, 1941 in Pazardjik, Southern
Bulgaria. He is one of the most liked Bulgarian pop singers.

Cabling condolences, Culture Minister Vezhdi Rashidov said that
the Bulgarian culture and pop music has suffered one more heavy
loss. "A legendary singer, an exceptional talent and a very
sensitive person has left us," Rashidov wrote, quoted by his
Ministry.

The press release says that in recognition of his contribution
to the development of Bulgarian culture, Godjounov was awarded
the highest prize of the Culture Ministry, The Golden Age.
