Deputy PM Buchvarova: Salzburg Forum Is Opportunity for Common Positions, Strong Voice in EU
Sofia, May 6 (BTA) - The Salzburg Forum is an opportunity to
share experience, elaborate common positions and defend these
together at the EU level, Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and
Interior Minister Roumyana Buchvarova said at a joint news
conference with her Austrian counterpart on the second day of a
Salzburg Forum meeting, the Interior Ministry reported
Wednesday.
As of July 1, Bulgaria will assume the Salzburg Forum presidency
from Austria. By the end of 2015, Bulgaria will prepare and
organize a series of ministerial and expert meetings in the
sphere of security and law enforcement. During the official
presentation of the forthcoming Bulgarian presidency, Buchvarova
outlined as priorities the actions against illegal migration,
terrorism, radicalization and cybercrime, the strengthening of
border security and of cooperation with the Western Balkans and
Moldova.
The Bulgarian presidency will also launch the "cyber dialogue
with Central and Eastern Europe". All Salzburg Forum member
countries have agreed on the need of improving the efficiency
and security of the information systems of both the law
enforcement services and state administrations as a whole.
Within the meeting, Bulgaria, Austria, Hungary and Croatia
signed an agreement on the improvement of the implementation of
sanctions in case of road traffic violations
The Salzburg Forum is a cooperation initiative in the sphere of
security between a group of EU Member States at the level of
ministers and experts. Participating are nine member countries:
Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland,
Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia.
