Twenty Parties Short of Audit Office Requirements for Submitting Financial Statements,
Donor Lists on Time

Sofia, April 15 (BTA) - A total of 159 parties have submitted
their annual financial statements for 2014 to the Audit Office
and 20 have not abided by the requirements, the office said
Wednesday.

In addition to the statements, the correct political forces have
also submitted the lists of their donors for the past year,
meeting the deadline set down by the Political Parties Act which
expired on March 31.
Nineteen of the 20 faulty formations have missed the deadline,
including nine which to date no longer exist by a judgment of
Sofia City Court, the press release specified.

One, Bulgaria without Censorship, has submitted its financial
statement on time, but there is no declaration with a list of
donors attached to it, as the law requires.

According to the Political Parties Act, a formation which does
not submit a financial statement on time is awarded a pecuniary
fine ranging from 5,000 to 10,000 leva.

Where parties fail to submit the required documents on time,
they lose their right to state subsidy until the next general
elections are held, the Audit Office said.

Within six months after the expiry of the deadline for receiving
annual financial statements the office audits the financial
activity, revenue, costs and management of the property provided
to the political parties that have received state subsidy over
the preceding year, used state- or municipal-owned premises
provided and have participated in elections if any have been
held.
