Online Platform Created for Protecting Journalism, Safety of Journalists
Sofia, April 7 (BTA) - The Council of Europe and five partner
organizations, among which is the Association of European
journalists (AEJ), created an online platform for the protection
of journalism and safety of journalists, said the AEJ Bulgaria
in a Tuesday press release. The goal behind the platform is to
improve the protection of journalists, better address threats
and violence against media professionals and foster early
warning mechanisms and response capacity within the Council of
Europe.
The partner organizations - Reporters Without Borders,
International Federation of Journalists, European Federation of
Journalists, AEJ and Article 19 - are committing themselves to
collect, verify and bring the alerts to the Council of Europe's
attention. They will monitor the development of registered cases and will
update information about them, based on the actions taken by the
local institutions.
AEJ Bulgaria, in its capacity as AEJ's national section, will
receive alerts from across the country. They can be submitted
via the platform's contact form at www.aej-bulgaria.org.
