MRF MP Peevski Denies Existence of Dispute between Himself and Corpbank Majority Owner Vassilev

Sofia, April 1 (BTA) - Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) MP
 Delyan Peevski told journalists in Parliament on Wednesday that
 there is no dispute between himself and the majority owner of
the de-licensed Corporate Commercial Bank (Corpbank), who is
currently in Serbia. Peevski denied Vassilev's recent statements
 that he was pressured by the MRF MP.
 
The names of Vassilev and Peevski cropped up in connection with
a banking  crisis involving Corpbank. Peevski was said to have
 abruptly removed funds from the bank, thus sparking a bank run
which destroyed the bank's liquidity. On June 20, 2014,
Corpbank, Bulgaria's fourth biggest lender, suspended all
operations after a panic run by depositors left it  illiquid.
The central bank withdrew Corpbank's banking  licence  on
November 5, 2014, and the bank's bankruptcy was petitioned  on
November 7.

There are allegations that Peevski, a one-time partner of
Vassilev, or  businesses controlled by Peevski, have failed to
repay sizeable loans taken out from Corpbank. Peevski has denied
 them, saying that all loans have been duly repaid.  

In an interview published by the "Glasove" (Voices) website on
Sunday, Vassilev named Peevski for the first time, by saying
that a year ago the MP had demanded that a few structurally
defining companies be transferred to him free of charge and that
 he had "used the power of the State, supported by almost all
political forces and with the consent of almost all political
forces" to destroy Vassilev, his bank and his business. Vassilev
 said in the interview that he had testified before two notaries
 in Western European countries. Vassilev added that in his
testimony about the political elite he reveals the deals made at
 the high-levels of government. Vassilev also explained that his
 testimony would be opened in the event of his death.

According to Peevski, the right thing for Tsvetanov to do would
be to return to Bulgaria and answer all questions.

Commenting Reformist Bloc co-floor leader Radan Kanev's demand
that the prosecuting magistracy conduct a check into Peevski,
the MRF MP said that he is 'the most checked person in this
country', adding that they can check him as much as they want.
Kanev urged the prosecuting magistracy to act on its own
initiative and check the role of Delyan Peevski MP into 
Corpbank's failure based on majority shareholder Tsvetan
Vassilev's Sunday interview with glasove.com.
 
The prosecuting magistracy conducted in 2014 two investigations
which followed a war of words between banker Tsvetan Vassilev 
and politician/businessman Delyan Peevski. One of the
investigations was  initiated upon a claim by Vassilev, who
alleged that on May 22  he received an SMS text message in a
hotel in Vienna, which said  that Peevski was looking for
someone to kill him for a price of  5 million US dollars.The
other investigation was launched upon  Peevski's claim that he
was falsely accused of plotting to kill Vassilev.
