Transport Minister: Construction of Standalone Intermodal Terminal Starts in Vidin
Vidin, on the Danube, March 17 (BTA) - Construction of a
standalone intermodal terminal starts in Vidin for the
transhipment of goods from railway, waterway and road transport,
said here on Tuesday Minister of Transport, Information
Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski. He was attending
a ceremony for the launch of a new specialized barge for
monitoring of the river bed.
The investment in the intermodal terminal will be in the
vicinity of 10 million leva and this is a small step towards
starting development in the region, the Minister noted. The
terminal is to be designed and its construction will commence
within a few months.
Concessions will be granted for two ports in Vidin along the
Danube, Moskovski said, voicing hope that this will attract
investments and make this infrastructure more desirable.
The new specialized barge for monitoring the river bed is
purchased under the BULRIS Project - a large-scale and complex
project, under which some 16 communication towers along the
Danube bank have been constructed.
