Reformist Bloc: Bulgaria Should Vow to Honour Commitments as Full-fledged NATO member
Sofia, February 11 (BTA) - In a statement read in Parliament on
Wednesday, the Reformist Bloc urged Bulgaria to vow that it will
observe its commitments as full-fledged NATO member. Also, the
Bloc voiced concern with the increasing activities of
destabilizing factors that instill fears and hatred in the
Bulgarian public to serve foreign interests.
The Reformist Bloc argued that as full-fledged NATO member,
Bulgaria relies on NATO's structures and organization to defend
its borders and territorial integrity. Each attempt to
manipulate the public opinion against NATO and its protective
functions poses huge risks to the country's national security
and is a malicious attempt to undermine the Alliance's
efficiency through discouragement of one of its members.
At a time which is extremely difficult Parliament should act
with courage and responsibility and defend in an uncompromising
way the country's national interests and the security of its
people.
Attempts by Ataka and the Bulgarian Socialist Party to go
against this nationally responsible position and serve foreign
interests clearly demonstrate their anti-Bulgarian and
anti-European nature.
The Reformist Bloc urges Parliament to support the efforts and
measures that will engage NATO, Bulgaria's EU partners and the
parties to bilateral agreements with Bulgaria to guarantee
Bulgaria's national security while fully respecting its
sovereignty, laws and UN aims and principles.
